Hand picked perfectly ripe fruit was fermented at cool temperature to maximize delicate fruit aromas. A portion of the wine was drained off before pressing to enhance the aromatics of the final blend. The remaining wine was pressed gently to enhance the resultant wine’s body & structure. Maturation took place in 2-year old French oak for 8 months. Minimal processing of this wine without fine filtering (which also removes some of the character of red wines) produced a wine with full color and body. It will show some sediment, and will repay cellaring. Should be decanted, whether it is drunk now or in 10 years.

Color: Bright crimson – purple with good depth.

Nose: Complex cherry/plum/blackberry with a hint of oak

Palate: Unexpectedly, this wine has more depth than the 2010 Shiraz Viognier, it has a touch higher alcohol but in perfect harmony with the depth of fruit. Lifted berry characters wih well integrated French oak. Well structured, good balance of fruit & acid. A keeper!
